Edit Text in Acrobat Pro DC: Video Lesson

This video lesson, titled “Editing Text,” shows how to edit text in Acrobat Pro DC. This lesson comes from our complete Acrobat tutorial, titled “Mastering Acrobat Made Easy v.Pro DC.”

Edit Text in Acrobat Pro DC: Overview

You can easily edit text in Acrobat Pro DC. To do this, however, the security settings of the PDF must allow for editing. You can change both the content and appearance of text in a text box within a PDF page. Note that editing text in Acrobat Pro DC differs from editing text in the older Acrobat Pro XI. To learn how to edit text if using Acrobat Pro XI, please read our previous blog post, titled “Edit Text in a PDF Using Acrobat XI- Tutorial.”

To edit text in Acrobat Pro DC, first open a PDF that contains text. Then choose the “Edit PDF” tool from either the Tools Center or the Tools panel. Your mouse pointer then turns into an editing tool. A bounding box also appears around the editable text in the PDF. Click and drag to select the text to edit. You can also directly click the bounding box to select all the text within it.

After selecting the text to edit, then use the keyboard keys to make content editing changes. To format text, click and drag to select the text to modify in the bounding box. Then use the “Format” tools found in the Tools Pane. You can also resize, rotate, and move the text box when it is being edited, the same as when initially creating the text box.
