How to Close PowerPoint Presentations: Video

This video lesson, titled “Closing Presentations,” shows how to close PowerPoint presentations. This video is from our complete PowerPoint tutorial, titled “Mastering PowerPoint Made Easy v.2019 and 365.”

Overview of How to Close PowerPoint Presentations:

This tutorial shows you how to close PowerPoint presentations. If you have multiple presentations open, you may want to close one of them. To close the current presentation when you have multiple presentations open, click the “x” in the upper-right corner of the application window. Alternatively, click the “File” tab in the Ribbon. Then click the “Close” command at the left side of the Backstage view. Clicking the “x” button is equivalent to executing the “Close” command.

If you only have a single presentation open and you want to leave the PowerPoint application open after closing the current presentation, click the “File” tab in the Ribbon. Then click the “Close” command at the left side of the Backstage view. Doing this then closes the file and leaves PowerPoint open. This is because clicking the “x” button in the upper-right corner of the application window when only one presentation is open closes both the presentation and the application.
