Live Captions in Teams: Video Lesson
This video lesson, titled “Using Live Captions in Meetings,” shows you how to enable live captions in Teams. This video lesson is from our complete Teams tutorial, titled “Mastering Teams Made Easy.”
Overview
Meeting participants can turn on live captions to make the meeting more inclusive for them. Live captions can help if they are deaf, hard of hearing, have a language barrier, or are participating in a place that is hard for them to hear the other participants. Live captions show onscreen captions for spoken words within a meeting.
To turn on live captions in Teams, click the “More actions” ellipsis in the Meeting Controls toolbar. Then select “Turn on live captions” from the menu. Captions will then appear in a black bar along the bottom of the meeting window.
It’s important to note that the live captions feature is not perfect technology. To make the best use of it, speak slowly, clearly, and directly into the microphone. You should also try to limit any background noise. Try to avoid more than one person speaking at a time. Captions are not stored or saved and are deleted once the meeting is done.
