Preview Results of a Merge in Publisher: Overview

You can preview results of a merge in Publisher to see the results of a merge without actually sending the mail merge to a printer or even having to create another “output” publication for review. The buttons in the “Preview Results” button group on the “Mailings” tab in the Ribbon let you preview the results in the merge publication. This can help you spot errors prior to performing the mail merge.

To do this, open your merge publication. Then click the “Preview Results” button in the “Preview Results” button group on the “Mailings” tab in the Ribbon. This will show a preview of the merge results in the publication window. The arrow buttons that appear to the right of the “Preview Results” button let you move through the records. Doing this lets you inspect them for errors in the publication window. Once you are finished, then simply click the “Preview Results” button again to turn the preview off.
