This video lesson, titled “Learn How to Remove Red Eye or Pet Eye in Camera Raw in Adobe Photoshop: A Training Tutorial,” shows how to remove red eye in camera raw in Photoshop. It also shows how to remove pet eye in Photoshop. This video lesson is from our complete Photoshop tutorial, titled “Mastering Photoshop Made Easy.”
Overview:
To correct red eye or pet eye in a camera raw image in Photoshop, click the “Red Eye” button in the toolbar at the right side of the “Camera Raw” dialog box. Then use the “Type” drop-down in the Red Eye panel that appears to the left of the toolbar to select either “Red Eye” or “Pet Eye” to select the type of correction to make.
For red eye adjustments, then use the “Pupil Size” and “Darken” sliders to set your desired levels for both settings. Alternatively, for pet eye adjustments, use the “Pupil Size” slider to set the size of the pupil in the adjustment and check or uncheck the “Add Catchlight” check box to enable or disable a specular highlight in the pet’s eye. For both types of adjustments, to toggle the visibility of the feedback overlay on or off, check or uncheck the “Overlay” checkbox. Then click and drag over the red eye or pet eye to correct in the image.
The correction occurs automatically, using the settings you specified. If the program cannot find any red eyes in the selected area, a message box appears and prompts you to redraw the area to include the eye and some of the face so it can make the corrections. After the overlay appears onscreen, you can then move and resize it, as needed. For overlays for pet eye corrections with a catchlight, you can click and drag the catchlight circle overlay within the pet eye overlay to reposition it, as needed. To reset the correction, if desired, click the “Reset red eye corrections” button in the upper-right corner of the panel.
