Save a Draft in WordPress: Overview
You can save a draft in WordPress to save the content of a page or post without actually publishing it to the Internet. To save a draft in WordPress of the current content within a page or post, click the “Save Draft” button within the “Publish” panel at the right side of the page or post when editing the post or page to save the current draft as a revision of the page. You can then click the adjacent “Preview” button in the “Publish” panel within the page or post to view the content of the page or post in a new browser tab or window to see it as your site’s visitors would see it. You can then close the preview tab or window when you are finished previewing the content to return to the post or page editing view in WordPress.

Save a Draft in WordPress: Instructions
- To save a draft in WordPress of the current content within a page or post, click the “Save Draft” button within the “Publish” panel at the right side of the page when editing the post or page to save it as a revision of the page.
- To view the content of the draft in a new browser tab or window to see it as your site’s visitors would see it, click the adjacent “Preview” button in the “Publish” panel within the page or post.
- You can close the preview tab or window when you are finished previewing the content.
