Task Inspector in Project: Video Lesson

This video lesson, titled “Inspecting Tasks,” shows you how to use the Task Inspector in Project. This video lesson is from our complete Microsoft Project tutorial, titled “Mastering Project Made Easy v.2016-2013.”

Task Inspector in Project: Overview

The Task Inspector in Project lets you inspect task and task assignment information. The Task Inspector appears in a pane at the left side of the application window. To use the Task Inspector in Project, select a task to inspect within the “Gantt Chart” view of the project file. Then click the “Inspect” button in the “Tasks” button group on the “Task” tab in the Ribbon. That then causes the “Task Inspector” pane to appear at the left side of the screen.

This pane shows task information for the selected task. It also shows resource assignment and predecessor task information. To close the Task Inspector, click the “X” button in the pane’s upper-right corner. Alternatively, you can also close it by clicking the “Task” tab in the Ribbon. Then click the “Inspect” button in the “Tasks” button group again to toggle it off.
