How to Update Microsoft Edge: Video

This video lesson, titled “How to Manually Update Microsoft Edge,” shows you how to update Microsoft Edge. This video lesson is from our complete Windows 11 tutorial, titled “Mastering Windows Made Easy v.11.”

Overview of How to Update Microsoft Edge:

Microsoft Edge automatically checks for updates and applies them when you restart the web browser. However, to manually check for updates to Microsoft Edge in Windows 11, open the Microsoft Edge app window. Then click the “Settings and more” button in the toolbar at the top of the window. Then roll down to the “Help and feedback” command to show a side menu of choices. Click the “About Microsoft Edge” command in this side menu to show the “About” page of the “Settings” window in Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Edge then automatically checks for updates when you open the “About” page. If there are any updates required, it automatically downloads them and then prompts you to close and reopen the browser to apply them. If Microsoft Edge is up to date, then it also informs you of that fact. If desired, to allow Microsoft Edge to download updates over metered connections, click the “Download Updates over metered connections” toggle switch to set it to the “On” position.
