Change the Theme in Outlook on the Web: Video Lesson

This video lesson, titled “Applying a Theme,” shows you how to change the theme in Outlook on the Web in Office 365. This video lesson is from our complete Outlook on the Web training, titled “Mastering Outlook on the Web Made Easy.”

Change the Theme in Outlook on the Web: Overview

You can change the theme in Outlook on the Web to alter its appearance. When you change the theme in Outlook on the Web, you change the colors displayed on the page.

To change the theme in Outlook on the Web, click the Settings icon. If necessary, scroll down until you see the “Theme” link. Then click the “Theme” link to open the swatch pane. In this pane, click the color or pattern theme to use in Outlook on the Web.

Alternatively, to change the theme in Outlook on the Web, click the “Mail” link within the Settings menu. Then click the “General” heading to open that list of options. Then click “Change Theme” to view the available swatches.

To choose a theme, in either area, click the swatch that contains the color or pattern to apply. The changes are immediately applied without closing the selection pane. This lets you see the changes before committing to them.

When finished, click the “Save” button to save the changes. Note that the list in the Settings menu is long. You may need to scroll down to see the “Save” and “Cancel” buttons. To revert to the original theme, if desired, you can also click the “Cancel” button.

You can also change the theme using the “Office 365” link in the Settings icon. Making changes to the theme using “Office 365” overrides the theme in Outlook on the Web or any individual app.
