Crop Pages in Adobe Acrobat: Overview

You can crop pages in Adobe Acrobat to adjust the visible page area of a PDF. This helps create visual consistency if working with various page sizes in a single PDF. To crop pages in Adobe Acrobat, first choose the “Edit PDF” tool from the Tools Center or the Tools panel. Then click the “Crop Pages” button in the Edit PDF toolbar.

The mouse pointer changes into a crosshair crop tool. Click and drag over the area of the page to remain visible. After defining the cropping rectangle, you can change its size by dragging its resizing handles. To crop the page, double-click within the cropping rectangle.

The “Set Page Boxes” dialog box opens, and you can then see the new parameters of your crop selection. You can then click into any of these fields to override your previous selection and enter new values. This helps if you need to create margins of a specific size. You can also select options for constraining the proportions of the page or removing white margins.

The “Change Page Size” area of the “Set Page Boxes” dialog box lets you choose to crop pages to a preset page size. This helps if working on a PDF that you want to print to a specific paper size. In the “Page Range” section, you can also apply the crop operation to all the PDF’s pages, just one page, or a page range. By default, Acrobat only crops the page with the cropping rectangle. When finished, click the “OK” button to apply the page cropping.

Remember that cropping a page doesn’t remove any of the page, it just hides the space you don’t want seen. Therefore, file size cannot be reduced by cropping pages. Also, don’t forget to save your document after cropping.
