How to Copy Slides in PowerPoint

by Joseph Brownell / Friday, July 18 2025 / Published in Latest, Marketing, Microsoft, Office 365, PowerPoint for Office 365, What's New at TeachUcomp?

Video Lesson:

This video lesson, titled “How to Copy Slides in PowerPoint,” shows you how to copy slides in PowerPoint.

How to Copy Slides in PowerPoint:

If you need to copy slides in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365, you need to do this manually. Microsoft is removing the “Reuse Slides” feature from PowerPoint for Microsoft 365 as of July 31st, 2025. The “Reuse Slides” feature helped you copy slides from external PowerPoint presentations into your current presentation. Instead, you’ll need to manually copy and paste slides after that date to copy PowerPoint slides within or between presentations. This video shows you ways to copy slides in PowerPoint or duplicates slides, if needed.

How to Copy and Paste Slides in PowerPoint:

To copy slides in PowerPoint for Microsoft 365, first select the slides to copy. You can select the slides to copy from a presentation within either Slide Sorter view or within the slides pane at the left side of Normal view. To select multiple slides in either location, hold down the “Ctrl” key on your keyboard as you click to select them. To then copy the selected slides, click the “Copy” button in the “Clipboard” button group on the “Home” tab of the Ribbon or press “Ctrl” + “C” on your keyboard.

Next, select where to paste the copied slides in the destination presentation within either Slide Sorter view or the slides pane at the left side of Normal view. You can click between any two slides in either view to place the insertion cursor between them. Alternatively, you can click before the first slide or after the last slide in either location to select that destination, instead. To then paste the copied slides, click the “Paste” button in the “Clipboard” button group on the “Home” tab of the Ribbon or press “Ctrl” + “V” on your keyboard.

Changing the Paste Options for Copied Slides in PowerPoint:

To change the paste options if you copy and paste slides between PowerPoint presentations with different themes, click the “Paste Options” drop-down button that then appears next to the pasted slides and select the desired choice. The default choice is “Use Destination Theme,” which makes the content in the pasted slide adopt any theme settings from the destination presentation. To keep their original formatting, select the “Keep Source Formatting” choice, instead.

How to Duplicate Slides in PowerPoint:

Alternatively, to duplicate slides within a PowerPoint presentation, select the slides to duplicate within either Slide Sorter view or within the slides pane at the left side of Normal view. Then either click the drop-down part of the “New Slide” button in the “Slides” button group on the “Home” tab of the Ribbon and select the “Duplicate Selected Slides” command or right-click a selected slide and choose the “Duplicate Slide” command from the pop-up contextual menu. At that point, PowerPoint then creates duplicates of the selected slides and inserts them after the last of the selected slides within the same presentation.
