Import Photos from Photoshop Elements into Lightroom Classic CC: Overview

You can import photos from Photoshop Elements into Lightroom Classic CC if you use both software programs on the same computer. Doing this lets you easily add all of a selected Photoshop Elements catalog’s photos to your Lightroom Classic CC catalog. When you do this, information from your Elements catalog is also saved in Lightroom Classic CC. This means you can then see ratings, tags, and other data you added to the photos in the selected Photoshop Elements catalog.

To import photos from Photoshop Elements into Lightroom Classic CC, select “File| Import a Photoshop Elements Catalog…” from the Menu Bar. The “Import photos from Photoshop Elements” dialog box then appears. The dialog box shows the name of your most recently-opened Elements catalog. You can choose this catalog or a different one from the “Photoshop Elements Catalog” drop-down menu.

After selecting a catalog, then click “Import” to import the Elements catalog into the currently selected Lightroom Classic CC catalog. Depending on the size of the transfer, a progress bar may then show the status of the operation.

After you import photos from Photoshop Elements into Lightroom Classic CC, the albums from the Elements catalog then appear as “Collections” in Lightroom. Although much information from your Elements catalog is preserved, information added using the “Events” feature in Elements Organizer is not imported into Lightroom Classic CC. However, you can create tags for the events you identified in Elements Organizer. If you do this, then the tag information is imported and supported by Lightroom Classic CC.
