iPhone 6, Apple Watch, and Apple Pay Revealed
As speculated in our previous blog post, the Apple event on September 9th saw the iPhone 6, Apple Watch, and Apple Pay revealed. The iPhone 6 was widely expected to be revealed. Many hoped the Apple Watch would be, and were not disappointed. Apple Pay is a new form of payment for both online app and real world purchases. Apple Pay uses NFC (Near Field Communication) to complete real-world transactions at multiple stores by using antennae built into both devices.
iPhone 6 Revealed
The new iPhone 6 comes in two different, and larger, sizes than were previously available for the iPhone 5s. The smaller iPhone 6 is 4.7” and the larger iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5.” The iPhone 6 Plus screen contains a full-HD Retina display of 1920 x 1080. The iPhone 6 also contains a Retina display that shows 1334 x 750 pixels, which is still a greater pixel resolution than the 720 pixels required for low-end HD display. The iPhone 6 will run the newest iteration of the iOS operating system, iOS 8, which is being released to the public on September 17th, 2014. iOS 8 is compatible with iPhone 4s onward, as well as iPad 2 and later. Apple Watch Revealed
Finally ending months of rampant speculation, Apple revealed its new watch, named the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch does require the user to own an iPhone, but is compatible with iPhone 5 or later. The Apple Watch will be released in the first part of 2015. It uses new tap and press gestures, as well as a new digital crown, to allow the user to interact with the device. It works seamlessly with the iPhone and looks like it will integrate well with the other Apple devices.
Apple Pay Revealed
Apple Pay, which is available with both the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch, is a new form of payment that allows the user to verify their identity when making real world purchases by using the Touch ID in the iPhone 6 and Apple Watch. It utilizes a Near Field Communication antenna within the device for contactless payment with thousands of merchants. You can also use the new Apple Pay feature to make purchases within apps.
