Change Worksheet Tab Color in Excel: Video Lesson

Overview:

            You can change worksheet tab color in Excel, if desired. To do this, first select the worksheet tab whose tab color you wish to change. Next, click the “Home” tab in the Ribbon. Then click the “Format” button in the “Cells” button group. Then roll your mouse pointer down to the “Tab Color” command. In the side menu that appears, then click the color you want to apply to the worksheet tab.

            Note that you can also click the “More Colors…” menu choice, instead, to open the “Colors” dialog box and select a color, if necessary. To remove a color from a selected worksheet tab in Excel, repeat the same process but select the “No Color” option from the side menu of choices that appears. Also note that when you select a worksheet tab, or make it active, it’s difficult to see its true worksheet tab color. You can deselect the worksheet tab to accurately see its worksheet tab color.

  1. To change the color of a worksheet tab in Excel, select the worksheet tab whose tab color you wish to change.
  2. Then click the “Format” button in the “Cells” button group on the “Home” tab of the Ribbon.
  3. Then roll your mouse pointer down to the “Tab Color” command.
  4. In the side menu that appears, click the color to apply to the worksheet tab.
  5. Alternatively, to open the “Colors” dialog box and select a color, click the “More Colors…” menu choice, instead.
  6. To remove a color from a selected worksheet tab, repeat steps 1 through 3, but then select the “No Color” option from the side menu of choices that appears.
  7. Also note that when you select a worksheet tab, or make it active, it’s difficult to see its true worksheet tab color. To accurately see its worksheet tab color, deselect the worksheet tab.
