Microsoft OneDrive, which is the online storage service provided for free when you sign up for a free Microsoft User Account, as mentioned in our previous blog post at this link, is giving away massive amounts of online server storage space to all existing accounts. Previously, a free Microsoft User Account came with 7 GB of free online storage space. However, this allotment was recently more than doubled to a free 15 GB of storage space per user. This OneDrive storage increase can be used to save files online to collaborate with others, as mentioned in our previous blog post at this link, as well as save external backup copies of larger file size items- such as pictures and videos.
According to a recent blog post at this link by Omar Shahine over at “The OneDrive Blog,” all current Office 365 subscribers will see an even more impressive OneDrive storage increase to 1 TB for their OneDrive online storage allotment. You can read more about Office 365 options and pricing within the linked blog post or at the Microsoft Office home page. This OneDrive storage increase to 1TB can make sharing and collaborating with even the largest files sizes easy for all Office 365 subscribers.
For users who may not be accustomed to using OneDrive yet, we have included a video below from our training titled “Mastering Windows Made Easy v.8.1,” which discusses using the “OneDrive” app within Windows 8.1. Note that the app was previously titled “SkyDrive” at the time that the video was recorded. However, while the name has changed, many of the features and functions of the app, such as uploading files, remains the same.
