Overview of the Clipboard Settings in Windows 11:
To access the clipboard settings in Windows 11, open the “Settings” app window and click the “System” button at the left side of the screen to show the system settings for your device. Then click the “Clipboard” category in the pane at the right side of the window to show the clipboard settings for Windows 11 in the right pane. The clipboard in Windows holds content you cut or copy until you paste it.
To enable clipboard history in Windows 11, click the “Clipboard history” setting’s toggle switch button to toggle it to the “On” position. When enabled, you can cut or copy multiple items and then press the Windows key + V key on your keyboard to open the Clipboard history pane, from which you can then paste the cut or copied items. To clear all content from the Clipboard history pane in Windows 11, click the “Clear all” button that appears within it after copying or cutting content.
To share your Windows Clipboard content across devices signed-in using the same Microsoft account or work or school account for the first time, click the “Share across devices” setting’s “Get started” button. If needed, then verify your email in the window that appears. After enabling Windows Clipboard sharing across your devices for the first time, this setting then appears as a “Sync across your devices” setting toggle switch you can click to toggle it on or off on the device. To automatically sync text you copy when it is enabled, ensure the “Automatically sync text that I copy” option button is selected below the “Sync across devices” setting.

To clear clipboard data in Windows, click the “Clear” button in the “Clear Clipboard data” setting. If you want to show suggested actions in Windows when you copy a date, a time, or a phone number, toggle the “Suggested actions” toggle switch to the “On” position. Alternatively, to turn these suggestions off, toggle this switch to the “Off” position. To close the “Settings” app window, when finished, click the “X” button in its upper-right corner.
Instructions on How to Change the Clipboard Settings in Windows 11:
- To access the clipboard settings in Windows 11, open the “Settings” app window and click the “System” button at the left side of the screen to show the system settings for your device.
- Then click the “Clipboard” category in the pane at the right side of the window to show the clipboard settings for Windows 11 in the right pane.
- To enable clipboard history in Windows 11, click the “Clipboard history” setting’s toggle switch button to toggle it to the “On” position.
