Change the Size of Slides in PowerPoint: Overview

            You can easily change the size of slides in PowerPoint. To change the size of slide in PowerPoint, open the presentation to change. Then click the “Slide Size” drop-down button in the “Customize” button group on the “Design” tab in the Ribbon.

            To change the aspect ratio of the slides, then choose either a “Standard” or “Widescreen” aspect ratio. Alternatively, to select a custom size or to change other slide size settings, select the “Custom Slide Size…” command in this button’s drop-down menu. Doing this then opens the “Slide Size” dialog box.

            To select a preset slide size, select one from the “Slides sized for:” drop-down menu of choices. To create slides that use a custom size, enter your measurements into the “Width:” and “Height:” spinner boxes. If you want to change the numbering of the slides, then enter the starting slide number into the “Number slides from:” spinner box.

            To set the orientation of the slides and other presentation elements, then in the “Orientation” section, select either the “Portrait” or “Landscape” option button in the “Slides” and “Notes, Handouts & Outline” sections.

            After setting the slide sizes you want in this dialog box, click the “OK” button to change the size of slides in the PowerPoint presentation.

  1. To change the size of slides in PowerPoint, open the presentation whose slides you want to change.
  2. Then click the “Slide Size” drop-down button in the “Customize” button group on the “Design” tab in the Ribbon.
  3. To change the aspect ratio of the slides, select either “Standard” or “Widescreen” from the drop-down menu.
  4. Alternatively, to select a custom size or to change other slide aspects, select the “Custom Slide Size…” command from the drop-down menu to open the “Slide Size” dialog box.
  5. To select a preset slide size, select a preset size from the “Slides sized for:” drop-down.
  6. To create custom slide sizes, enter custom measurements into the “Width:” and “Height:” spinner boxes.
  7. If you want to change the starting slide numbering, enter the starting slide number into the “Number slides from:” spinner box.
  8. To set the page orientation for slides and other presentation elements, select either the “Portrait” or “Landscape” option button within the “Slides” and “Notes, Handouts & Outline” sections within the “Orientation” section.
  9. When finished, click the “OK” button to apply your new settings.
